Principal Software Engineer, Independent Software Vendor Marketplace

Role Overview: As a Principal Software Engineer at Okta, you will play a crucial role in the company's vision to enable safe connectivity to any technology. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze and refine requirements in collaboration with Product Management and stakeholders by asking relevant questions and ensuring clarity. - Work closely with user experience designers and architects to plan engineering efforts and dependencies effectively. - Develop secure and reusable components to facilitate the implementation of UIs with a consistent look and feel by other teams. - Create APIs and SDKs that cater to the developers working at B2B Enterprise SaaS companies, focusing on usability and functionality. - Uphold high standards for security, test-driven development, design reviews, and code reviews while maintaining a sense of urgency. - Define long-term observability and reliability metrics for the systems and features under your ownership. Qualifications Required: - Possess 12+ years of software development experience. - Proficient in at least one backend language and framework such as Java, C#, or Typescript (NodeJS). - Familiarity with React or similar front-end UI stacks like Angular or Vue; willingness to learn if not already comfortable. - Demonstrable expertise in HTTP fundamentals with strong API Design skills. - Experience working with database technologies like MySQL, Redis, or PostgreSQL. - Proficiency in at least one cloud-native system of scale such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Familiarity with distributed systems patterns including caching, asynchronous processing, etc. - Proven track record of delivering work incrementally, seeking feedback, and iterating on solutions. - Possess a positive attitude and enthusiasm, emphasizing ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and customer focus.
