Role Overview: You are a visionary and hands-on Principal AI Engineer at AlphaSense, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of AI within the company. As the foundational pillar of the Content portfolio strategy, your mission is to research, architect, and pioneer solutions that process and extract intelligent insights from millions of unstructured documents and multi-media files daily. This is a unique opportunity to be the primary AI/ML authority, responsible for implementing cutting-edge techniques for document classification, entity extraction, and more. Key Responsibilities: - Spearhead AI Innovation: Research, evaluate, and prototype cutting-edge solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision, and other machine learning techniques to solve complex data extraction challenges. - Architect for Scale: Design and build robust, highly scalable, and cost-effective AI services and data processing pipelines for processing millions of documents daily with high reliability and throughput. - Tackle Real-World AI Challenges: Solve practical problems of production AI, manage LLM latency and variance, develop prompt engineering strategies, and build fault-tolerant systems. - Be a Force Multiplier: Mentor the engineering team, drive mission-critical initiatives to production, and act as a key technical thought leader. Qualifications Required: - 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of building complex, data-intensive backend systems. - Deep expertise (5+ years) in building and scaling production-grade services using modern backend frameworks. - Significant, hands-on experience (3+ years) in the complete lifecycle of AI/ML models in a high-volume cloud environment. - Mastery in designing large-scale distributed systems with knowledge of asynchronous patterns, streaming, queuing, and observability. - Exceptional communication and leadership skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence engineering direction.
