Job Title: Store Helper Reports to: Store Manager Job summary: The store helper is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the bakery supplies retail store, ensuring a tidy, well-stocked, and safe environment for customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and possesses good customer service skills. Responsibilities Customer service: Assist customers in finding products and answer basic questions about bakery supplies. Stock management: Receive, unpack, and arrange new shipments from suppliers. Organize and restock products on shelves and in display areas. Rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure proper product turnover. Inspect deliveries for accuracy and report any damaged or expired items to the manager. Store maintenance: Keep the store clean and tidy by dusting shelves, sweeping, and mopping floors. Organize the stockroom to ensure inventory is stored efficiently and safely. Sales support: Assist with preparing product displays and signage. Monitor the sales floor for misplaced items and return them to the proper location. Operational support: Help with store opening and closing procedures. Follow all company policies, including health and safety regulations. Perform other administrative or store tasks as directed by the Store Manager. Qualifications and skills Experience: Prior experience in a retail or stock-handling environment is preferred, but not always required. Communication: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and colleagues. Organization: Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail for managing inventory and maintaining store appearance. Physical stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift and carry objects weighing up to 35-50 pounds. Reliability: A dependable and flexible worker who is available to work various shifts, including weekends. Teamwork: Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
