Job Summary: The Lead Operator (OP1) is a skilled and permanent machine operator responsible for independently operating and managing fully automatic, HMI-controlled machines in a production environment. OP1 plays a key role in executing production plans , maintaining machine efficiency , ensuring product quality , and leading junior operators (OP2 and OP3) on the shop floor. The role demands technical proficiency, responsibility for machine performance and safety , and the ability to coordinate with maintenance, quality, and supervisory teams to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations. Key Skills: Machine Operation: Full operational control of fully automatic machines Proficient in HMI systems: navigating screens, inputting commands, interpreting alarms Understands machine logic, automatic cycles, safety interlocks, and process flows Monitor machine performance, address alarms, and initiate appropriate troubleshooting measures. Setup, Changeovers & Calibration: Independently performs tool changeovers, parameter settings, and initial calibration Adjusts recipes or production settings through HMI Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnoses and solves faults in automatic machinery Reads error codes and alarm logs on HMI for problem-solving Performs basic electrical and mechanical maintenance; raises service requests when needed Quality Assurance: Conducts in-process inspections Adjusts machine settings based on product feedback Uses measurement tools (Vernier, micrometre, gauges) Maintain records of inspection, deviations, and corrective actions. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate shift logs, production reports, downtime tracking, and batch traceability using HMI and manual systems. Ensure documentation of all changeovers, maintenance, and quality checks. Safety & Compliance: Ensures adherence to machine safety protocols Conducts lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance Lead daily safety briefings and report any near misses, unsafe conditions, or incidents. Trains OP2/OP3 on safety practices Leadership & Communication: Leads designated area teams, delegates tasks to OP2/OP3 Communicates issues to maintenance, quality, or supervisors Provides on-the-job training in machine handling, safety, and quality. Ensure continuous skill development of the team by identifying gaps and mentoring. Preferred candidate profile Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications or training in printing processes or UV technology is a plus. Experience: 2+ years of experience as a machine operator in a printing environment, with knowledge of UV or 1 over 1 perfecting systems. Experience in both UV and 1 over 1 perfecting printing is highly preferred. Experience working in rotational Shifts Technical Skills: Understanding of machine operation, print quality control, and basic troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of UV ink systems and 1 over 1 perfecting printing technology. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Ability to work efficiently in a team and under pressure. Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. CTC: As per market standards
