Job Description for Purchase Manager Job Title: Purchase Manager Department: Procurement Location: Ahmedabad Reporting To: DGM Procurement Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Experience: 5–6 Years (preferably in electrical contracting or EPC industry) Employment Type: Full-Time Role Overview: The Purchase Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and services required for ongoing and upcoming projects. This includes vendor management, timely procurement, price negotiation, material planning, and ensuring compliance with company policies and project timelines. Key Responsibilities: Procurement Planning & Execution: Prepare procurement plans based on project requirements, BOQ, and site demands. Coordinate with project and engineering teams to forecast and finalize procurement schedules. Source and procure electrical items like cables, panels, switchgear, fixtures, conduits, etc. Vendor Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify new vendors based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors. Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and maintain approved vendor lists. Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Negotiate best terms for pricing, credit, and delivery with vendors. Finalize contracts and purchase orders ensuring commercial advantage and risk mitigation. Monitor market trends to control costs and avoid procurement delays. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all procurement is aligned with company policies, quality standards, and budget provisions. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, quotations, agreements, and approvals. Liaise with accounts and legal departments for timely vendor payments and contract closures. Coordination & Follow-ups: Follow up with vendors to ensure timely deliveries as per site schedules. Coordinate with store and site teams for material receipt, inspection, and reconciliation. Handle replacement/rejection of faulty or non-compliant materials. Inventory Support: Work with store teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid overstocking or shortages. Support in periodic stock audits and material reconciliation processes. Reporting & MIS: Generate weekly and monthly procurement status reports. Track material-wise, vendor-wise, and project-wise purchases and cost trends. Skills & Competencies Required: Sound knowledge of electrical materials, specifications, and vendors. Strong negotiation and analytical skills. Familiarity with procurement and inventory ERP systems Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines. Integrity, discipline, and result-oriented mindset.
