Podiatrist

Job Summary:

The Podiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing foot, ankle, and lower limb disorders. This includes managing conditions such as diabetic foot complications, sports injuries, deformities, infections, and gait abnormalities. The role involves patient assessment, treatment planning, and collaborating with other departments such as orthopedics, physiotherapy, and endocrinology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine, diagnose, and treat foot and ankle issues such as bunions, heel pain, ingrown toenails, ulcers, and diabetic foot problems.
• Conduct assessments like gait analysis, foot pressure mapping, monofilament testing, and neurovascular studies.
• Prescribe and customize orthotics, insoles, and therapeutic footwear.
• Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., nail avulsion, callus removal).
• Educate patients on foot hygiene, proper footwear, and preventive care.
• Collaborate with endocrinologists, vascular surgeons, physiotherapists, and wound care teams.
• Maintain accurate and updated medical records.
• Recommend imaging or lab tests when required.
• Participate in health camps, foot screening drives, and patient education programs.
• Monitor wound healing and initiate timely referrals when complications arise.
• Stay updated on podiatry trends, techniques, and best practices.
