As a Manufacturing Engineer at Fictiv, your role is pivotal in driving improvements to our critical manufacturing functions. You will interface between our builders and manufacturing partners, analyzing manufacturability and costs associated with various fabrication processes. Leveraging your Mechanical Engineering background and knowledge of manufacturing processes, you will assess design specifications to meet builders" needs. By developing competitive proposals and quotations, you will contribute to accelerating product launches across diverse industries and fostering Fictiv's growth. Reporting to the Director of US Manufacturing Engineering & Global Standards, you will engage in various responsibilities: - Release Package Review: Analyze models, drawings, parts lists, and data to determine feasibility for manufacturing, lead time, and manufacturing requirements. - Quoting: Generate quotes for builders using analysis and software recommendations, or collaborate with external suppliers for quoting parameters. - Calculator Generation: Develop cost calculators based on fabrication expertise to enhance quoting accuracy for new service offerings. - DFx Feedback: Offer design alterations to improve manufacturability, reduce fabrication costs, or enhance ease of assembly to builders. - Automation Feedback: Provide insights to improve the accuracy of automated quoting for manufacturing services. - Drawing Generation: Create high-quality 2D drawings adhering to ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards. Desired Traits: - Meticulous, detail-oriented, and inclined towards documentation. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. - Self-starter, efficient time manager, capable of completing tasks independently and promptly. - Enjoys sharing knowledge and educating others on manufacturing processes. - 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training. - Understanding of GD&T and conventional tolerancing. - Knowledge of common metals and plastics manufacturability and limitations. - Exposure to various custom mechanical manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, urethane casting, and injection molding. - Experience in CNC machining and 3D printing is essential.
