The role at Apple involves working in a lab environment to conduct sample preparation techniques and methods for investigating product failures. You will be responsible for tasks such as product tear downs, cross sections, planar polishing, and de-processing of ICs and other components. Utilizing your engineering and scientific knowledge, you will determine the root cause of failures and propose corrective actions while presenting your findings to global teams and executives. Key Responsibilities: - Understand the failure background and design an investigation plan - Select appropriate sample preparation methods based on material type and condition - Conduct artifact-free cross sectioning, planar polishing, delayering, and de-processing on failed samples - Collaborate with colleagues to analyze findings and determine next steps and corrective actions - Present data in global meetings and executive reviews Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors / Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering / Materials Science / Metallurgy with 4+ years of experience in sample preparation - Proficiency in various sample preparation techniques such as mounting, grinding, polishing, planer polishing, decapsulation, Ion milling, and wet etch - Hands-on experience in Optical Microscopy (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) - Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, drawings, and 3D device structures - Excellent English communication skills for conveying complex findings concisely Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with advanced techniques like Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focussed Ion Beam (FIB), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX/EDS), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) - Experience in fractography of metals, micro-structural characterisation of metals/alloys, and mechanical testing of materials - Adaptability to fast-paced environments and eagerness to learn new techniques - Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks concurrently and collaborate effectively across organizations - Prior experience in Failure Analysis lab or Material Industry is a plus If you possess the required qualifications and are looking for a challenging opportunity to contribute to the innovation and success of Apple, submit your CV for consideration.,
