Job Description

As a Lab Assistant, your role involves preparing and setting up laboratory equipment, specimens, and materials for Biology and Physics practical sessions. During lab sessions, you will assist faculty and provide technical support to students, ensuring a smooth execution of experiments. Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety of lab spaces, instruments, and work areas is crucial. Your responsibilities also include proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, and other lab materials. Additionally, you will calibrate, operate, and maintain various laboratory equipment such as microscopes, balances, and centrifuges. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, specimens, and materials for Biology and Physics practical sessions. - Assist faculty during lab sessions and provide technical support to students while performing experiments. - Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of lab spaces, instruments, and work areas. - Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, and other lab materials. - Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment (microscopes, balances, centrifuges, optical instruments, electrical apparatus, etc.). - Maintain accurate records of lab inventory, including equipment, glassware, consumables, and chemicals. - Assist in procuring laboratory materials by preparing requisitions and maintaining stock registers. - Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance of lab instruments. - Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines, including fire, chemical, and electrical safety. - Support in organizing laboratory demonstrations, workshops, and exhibitions. Qualifications & Skills: - Bachelors degree / Diploma in Biology, Physics, Life Sciences, or related field. - Prior experience as a lab assistant/technician in academic or research settings preferred (3-5 years). - Knowledge of laboratory practices, equipment handling, and safety standards. - Good organizational and record-keeping skills. - Ability to assist students patiently and communicate instructions clearly. - Basic computer skills for maintaining records and reports. In this full-time position, you will be required to work in person at the specified location.,
