Job Description

Patient Care:

Assess patient conditions, medication histories, and test results to create safe and effective medication plans.
Monitor patient drug therapies and advise healthcare professionals on necessary interventions.
Counsel patients on prescribed medications, including potential side effects and interactions, and ensure medication adherence.

Medication Management:

Review and interpret physician orders to prepare and dispense medications.
Compound, package, and label medications accurately.
Manage pharmacy inventory, track controlled substances, and ensure the removal of outdated drugs.

Collaboration and Education:

Consult with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide drug information and ensure proper medication use.
Participate in hospital programs to educate staff, students, and patients on pharmacology.

Operational Duties:

Supervise pharmacy technicians and other staff, managing workflow and ensuring the quality of their work.
Adhere to all state and federal drug laws and regulations.
