Job Description

As an experienced Pattern & Stitching Master specializing in women's Indian ethnic wear, your role will involve the following key responsibilities: - **Pattern Making**: - Create accurate paper patterns for new designs based on sketches, measurements, and samples. - Develop patterns specifically for Indian ethnic garments such as lehengas, blouses, suits, shararas, and ethnic gowns. - Apply correct grading, draping, fit, and balancing techniques. - Modify and refine patterns after fittings and feedback. - Maintain a well-organized library of master patterns. - **Garment Construction / Stitching**: - Independently stitch high-quality ethnic garments with perfect finishing. - Guide and supervise junior tailors in the construction of Indian wear. - Execute sampling and production as per design intent. - Handle intricate techniques required for ethnic garments like cancan placement, pleating, paneling, lining, and fall. - **Fitting & Adjustments**: - Conduct trial fittings for samples and client orders. - Make precise alterations to achieve the perfect fit. - Provide recommendations to enhance fit and garment structure. - **Quality Control**: - Ensure finishing standards suitable for premium ethnic and trousseau garments. - Carry out quality checks for seams, lining, embroidery placements, and overall neatness. - Maintain consistency and accuracy across production. - **Collaboration**: - Work alongside the Designer, Production Manager, and Embroidery Team to bring designs to life. - Provide technical inputs on construction and fabric handling. **Skills & Experience Required**: - Mandatory previous experience in Indian ethnic wear (minimum 3-10+ years). - Strong knowledge of stitching techniques for lehengas, blouses, anarkalis, suits, shararas, and drape-based silhouettes. - Ability to interpret sketches and convert them into patterns. - Knowledge of industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, overlock, interlock, etc.). - Understanding of fabric fall, cutting methods, finishing, and garment construction specific to ethnic wear. - Attention to detail and ability to lead/mentor stitching staff. This is a full-time position located in person.
