The Food Analyst/ Chemist is responsible for conducting chemical and physical analyses of food products to ensure safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and nutritional content. This role plays a vital part in supporting quality control and food safety initiatives within the organization. Responsibilities Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food products. Analyze food samples for components such as moisture, fat, protein, fiber, sugar, preservatives, additives, and contaminants. Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, ICP/MS FTIR, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and titration systems. Prepare samples and reagents following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Interpret and document test results in compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g., FDA, FSSAI, ISO 17025). Assist in method development and validation for new testing protocols. Support product development and shelf-life studies through analytical testing. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations in the lab. Participate in internal and external audits and assist in the implementation of corrective actions. Maintain accurate and complete records of all tests and analyses performed. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related field. 2–4 years of experience in a food testing laboratory or analytical chemistry lab preferred. Proficient in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment. Familiar with food regulations and quality standards (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, Codex). Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
