Job Description

About the Role:

We are launching a new organic farming project and are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Agronomist to lead and manage the planning, development, and implementation of organic cultivation practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainable agriculture, soil management, and organic certification processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement organic farming plans aligned with project goals.
  • Conduct soil, water, and crop assessments to determine the best organic cultivation methods.
  • Plan crop rotation, companion planting, and pest management strategies using natural methods.
  • Supervise farm operations, including sowing, irrigation, weeding, composting, and harvesting.
  • Guide and train farm workers on organic farming techniques and safety procedures.
  • Monitor crop health and yield; suggest corrective actions for soil or pest-related issues.
  • Manage organic certification documentation and ensure compliance with certification standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers for organic seeds, bio-fertilizers, and natural pest control inputs.
  • Maintain detailed records of farming activities, expenses, and production data.
  • Coordinate with management on farm expansion, sustainability goals, and market readiness.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in organic or sustainable farming projects.
  • Strong knowledge of organic cultivation techniques, soil fertility, and pest management.
  • Familiarity with organic certification standards (e.g., NPOP, USDA Organic).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in farm environments and manage field teams.
  • Passion for sustainability and eco-friendly agricultural innovation.

Preferred:

  • Experience with horticulture, greenhouse farming, or integrated farming systems.
  • Exposure to modern irrigation systems, composting, and natural resource management.
