Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Optometrist interested in a teaching role. The ideal candidate should be passionate about mentoring students, guiding them through both theoretical and clinical aspects of Optometry, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the department.

Prior Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience as an Optometrist or Instructor (in clinical or academic setting).
  • Candidates with prior teaching experience will be preferred.

Thorough Knowledge of:

  • General & Ocular Anatomy and Physiology
  • Visual Optics & Refraction
  • Clinical Optometry & Dispensing Optics
  • Ocular Pathology, Pharmacology, and Diseases of the Eye
  • Contact Lens, Low Vision Aids, and Binocular Vision
  • Ophthalmic Instruments & Diagnostic Techniques
  • Community Optometry and Public Health

Detailed Job role:

  • Conduct theory and practical classes as per the academic syllabus.
  • Supervise and mentor students during practical sessions and clinical postings.
  • Develop and update course materials, including lesson plans and study resources.
  • Prepare interactive digital notes and presentations (PPTs, video references) to support SMART CLASS learning.
  • Conduct internal assessments, viva, and maintain academic records and student log books.
  • Participate in organizing health camps, eye check-up drives, and workshops to enhance clinical exposure for students.
  • Take part in departmental initiatives such as professional lecture recordings for social media and institutional promotions.

Preferred Skills (Good to have):

  • Basic computer knowledge – MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Sheets/Docs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle students professionally.

Work Days & Time:

Full Time Shift: Monday-Saturday, 11AM-5PM.

Part Time Shift: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 11AM-5PM OR Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday, 11AM-5PM.
