Job Description

Organization: Nirala Eye Hospital, Gumla
Location: Lohardaga Road, Gumla, Jharkhand
Department: Clinical Services – Optometry
Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Senior Ophthalmologist/ Hospital Admin

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties

  • Perform detailed vision assessments and refraction for patients of all age groups.
  • Conduct preliminary eye examinations including visual acuity, slit lamp examination, retinoscopy, tonometry, and fundus evaluation (as per scope of practice).
  • Identify and document common eye conditions such as refractive errors, cataract, glaucoma suspects, conjunctivitis, and other ocular disorders.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during OPD, diagnostic procedures, and minor procedures.
  • Perform pre-operative and post-operative assessments and counseling of patients.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and usage of optometry and diagnostic equipment.

Optical & Dispensing Support

  • Prescribe and verify spectacles and contact lenses as per clinical findings.
  • Guide patients regarding suitable frames, lenses, and eye care products.
  • Coordinate with the optical department for order placement, fitting, and delivery.

Patient Care & Counseling

  • Educate patients on eye health, spectacle use, contact lens hygiene, and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain polite, empathetic, and professional behavior with patients and attendants.
  • Support patient flow management to ensure efficient OPD operations.

Camp & Outreach Activities

  • Participate in eye screening camps, school screening programs, and outreach activities organized by the hospital.
  • Perform vision screening and refraction during camps and assist in patient mobilization for hospital referral.
  • Maintain accurate camp records and submit reports as required.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records, prescriptions, and investigation details.
  • Assist in preparing daily OPD, optical, and camp-related reports.
  • Follow hospital protocols, NABH/quality standards (if applicable), and infection control guidelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹21,000.00 per month
