The founders of O2 Angels are increasing their stake in a SEBI-approved Category 1 Angel Fund (AIF) initiated in 2019. In line with this expansion, we are seeking a Legal Associate to manage day-to-day operations under the guidance of the General Partners. Role Description Position: Legal Associate – Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) Type: Full-time, On-site Location: Mumbai The Legal Associate will be responsible for handling legal and compliance matters related to AIF operations, investment transactions, and fund management. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance while supporting execution and post-investment processes. Key Responsibilities: Drafting and reviewing fund documents, investment agreements, and related legal materials. Supporting compliance and regulatory filings under SEBI (AIF) Regulations, 2012 (and subsequent updates). Conducting legal research and due diligence on fund structures, startups, and investments. Reviewing existing schemes, policies, and compliance requirements. Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on AIF-related matters. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; a master’s degree in a related field is a plus. Strong foundational knowledge of law, with experience handling matters related to Alternative Investment Funds. Expertise in preparing and reviewing legal documents, including closing documents. Strong analytical skills to assess risks, evaluate legal and compliance matters, and support due diligence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with investors, startups, and regulators. Ability to work independently while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail. Prior experience in investment banking, venture capital, or startup advisory is an added advantage.
