Job Description

Job Summary:

Nursing Trainee in Medical Coding

Key Responsibilities:

Undergo structured training in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
Learn to analyze and interpret clinical documentation for coding purposes.
Assist in assigning appropriate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
Raise queries to the providers for documentation clarity/integrity.
Collaborate with senior coders and healthcare providers to clarify documentation when needed.
Gain proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software.
Support quality assurance by participating in audits and coding validation checks.
Follow HIPAA and other compliance standards regarding patient information.
Stay updated with coding guidelines and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications:

Education:
Diploma or Degree in Nursing (GNM, B.Sc Nursing, etc.)
Experience:
No prior experience in medical coding required; clinical or hospital experience is a plus.
Skills:

Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to a technical healthcare environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic computer literacy.

Training Provided:

Introduction to medical coding systems (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS).
Use of coding tools and software.
Regulatory and compliance training.
Hands-on practice with sample clinical cases.
