Job Summary The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of all machinery in the manufacturing plant. The role involves managing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, coordinating with external service providers when necessary, and ensuring adherence to AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts). Additionally, the candidate should possess hands-on knowledge of operating milling and lathe machines to assist with machine operations when required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all machines, including CNC, milling, lathe, and other production equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime. Take external support if required. Ensure routine lubrication, calibration, and alignment of critical machine components. Coordination of AMC and Vendor Management Manage and oversee Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) for critical equipment. Liaise with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance. Ensure timely renewal of AMCs and monitor vendor performance to maintain service quality. Emergency and Breakdown Management Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and implement corrective actions. Coordinate with external service providers when necessary for complex issues beyond in-house expertise. Develop contingency plans to reduce machine downtime and improve response time for emergencies. Machine Operation and Support Operate milling and lathe machines when needed to assist with production or test machines after repairs. Verify machine functionality post-maintenance to ensure operational efficiency. Provide basic training to operators on machine handling and troubleshooting if required. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure machine longevity. Monitor machine conditions using predictive maintenance techniques and suggest corrective measures. Maintain inventory of critical spare parts to prevent unexpected downtime. Compliance and Safety Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality protocols, and company policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce compliance with safety regulations. Maintain records of safety audits and recommend improvements to minimize hazards. Documentation and Reporting Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and AMC documentation. Prepare and submit periodic maintenance reports to management with actionable insights. Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements based on maintenance data analysis. Knowledge, skills and abilities Familiarity with PLC systems, CNC controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens), and automation technologies. Ability to operate and troubleshoot milling and lathe machines effectively. Experience in managing AMC contracts and coordinating with external vendors. Proficiency in reading and interpreting machine schematics, blueprints, and manuals. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Good knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography. Strong vendor management and negotiation skills. Good communication and leadership abilities. Education and or skill requirements Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance of CNC, milling, lathe, and other production machinery. Exposure to manufacturing plant conditions, including noise, dust, and heavy machinery. Willingness to work in shifts and handle emergency breakdowns as needed.
