As a member of the Republic Digital Video Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and informative content across various digital platforms. Your passion for current affairs, breaking news, and storytelling will drive you to create compelling video formats that resonate with our audience. You will be responsible for tracking and responding to real-time breaking developments, transforming them into captivating short-format breaking videos, as well as long-form explainers and originals. Your ability to script and visualize news videos for different formats, including anchor-led, footage-led, byte-driven, and voiceover-driven, will be essential in delivering high-impact content. Collaboration is key in our team, and you will work closely with editors, graphic teams, and motion designers to ensure the seamless delivery of videos on Republic Digital platforms. Your role will also involve deep research for podcast and interview formats, as well as contributing to live coverage and newsroom coordination when required. To excel in this role, you must possess a news-first mindset, be adept at handling tight deadlines and breaking scenarios, and have a strong editorial understanding of politics, governance, geopolitics, and human interest stories. Proficiency in video scripting, basic editing workflows, and digital publishing tools such as YouTube Studio and CMS will be beneficial. If you have a strong academic background and at least 15 years of experience in a newsroom or relevant current affairs environment, we encourage you to apply. However, freshers with exceptional academic credentials and content portfolios are also welcome to join our team. Additionally, having working knowledge of tools like Premiere Pro, Canva, or After Effects, prior experience in a digital newsroom or social video production setup, and an existing content portfolio will be considered a bonus.
