About the Role

Channel009 is launching India’s Gram Panchayat Digital Ecosystem (GPDE) — a network of 5000+ Panchayat websites and hyperlocal news portals.
We are hiring a News Editor to lead content creation, curation, and editorial management for Panchayat-level digital news platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Curate and edit news, updates, and local stories from multiple Panchayat sources.
• Ensure accuracy, neutrality, and fast turnaround of stories during election season.
• Manage a team of local content contributors/reporters.
• Collaborate with the Digital Project team to publish updates on Panchayat websites.
• Monitor social media channels and ensure content engagement.
• Maintain editorial calendar and compliance with media ethics.

Requirements

• Graduate / Postgraduate in Journalism, Mass Communication, or English.
• 2–5 years experience in editorial/news content writing or editing.
• Strong command over Hindi & English (regional languages like Gujarati/Bengali an advantage).
• Familiarity with WordPress, digital publishing, or newsroom CMS.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple stories at once.
