Music Teacher

• Bachelor’s degree in Music

(B.A. Music / B.Music / equivalent)

• OR recognized diploma in Music (minimum 4–6 years training) from:
• Government music colleges
• Universities
• Institutions like Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, etc.
• Senior Secondary (Class 12) pass from a recognized board

For Secondary / Senior Secondary (Classes IX–XII)

• Bachelor’s degree in Music (Vocal / Instrumental / Hindustani / Carnatic)
• Master’s degree (M.A. Music) is preferred and sometimes required for higher classes

2. Professional Training

• B.Ed. is:
• Preferred for secondary level
• Mandatory in many CBSE schools, especially for permanent posts
• Some schools accept Diploma in Education (D.El.Ed.) for primary level

3. CTET / TET

• CTET is not mandatory for music teachers in most CBSE schools
• However, some private or KVs/JNVs may require it
