Molecular Biologist and Biochemist

You will be joining the Lab on a chip & Biosensors Group of Prof. Sandeep K. Jha at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi as a full-time Molecular Biologist cum Biochemist. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct laboratory experiments utilizing techniques in molecular biology, PCR, pathogen culture, and genome analysis. Additionally, you will be involved in enzymology tasks such as optimizing new mastermix compositions, as well as designing primers and probes. As part of the role, you will need to deploy these assays into microfluidic devices or paper fluidic kits to develop clinical diagnostic products. It is essential that you have hands-on experience in running PCR machines, culturing microorganisms, and handling clinical validation, as the project duration is limited to 1.5 years. Successful completion of the project may lead to enrollment in a Ph.D. program at the Centre as a career reward. To qualify for this role, you must possess laboratory skills and expertise in microbiology. You should have experience in handling qPCR and RT-PCR with melt curve analysis, proficiency in enzymology, biosensors, and UV-Vis based kinetic assays. A strong background in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, and molecular biology is required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and collaboration abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for scientific research are essential. A Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is preferred. This position involves a six-day work week at a difficulty level commensurate with India's top academic institute.
