You will be joining Sarla Aviation, a pioneering aerospace startup dedicated to revolutionizing urban air mobility with innovative Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (EVTOL) aircraft. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in transforming the future of flight by pushing the boundaries of engineering, technology, and customer experience. Your expertise and passion for sustainable transportation solutions will be instrumental in achieving our goals. In this role, you will serve as the technical expert for metallic manufacturing, Special Process, Mechanical, Mechatronic assembly processes, which includes precision machining, sheet metal forming, integration, fastening techniques, and GD&T interpretation. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as suppliers, design, test, and quality teams will be essential to ensure manufacturability, compliance with aerospace standards, and optimized assembly processes within fast-paced timelines. Your responsibilities will include being the primary on-site expert for resolving issues related to metals, mechanical, and integration domains, driving Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA). Additionally, you will need to have foundational knowledge of electrical integration with a strong intent to expand into cross-functional domains. Coordinating with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of critical metallic components, raw materials, and tooling while maintaining traceability and documentation compliance will be crucial. As a mentor and guide, you will support junior manufacturing engineers and technicians, fostering a hands-on, solution-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement and production readiness. Your role will also involve maintaining up-to-date work instructions, assembly fixtures, and value stream maps tailored for low-volume, high-complexity prototype and production builds, balancing quality, efficiency, and safety. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, with at least 6-8 years of hands-on experience in metallic manufacturing and assembly, preferably in the aerospace sector. Deep understanding of machining, sheet metal forming, welding, fastening, and structural integration of metallic assemblies is essential. Proficiency in GD&T, CAD tools (preferred NX), and PLM systems is required, along with strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards and manufacturing certification processes. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills are key attributes for this position, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic prototype, and low-rate production environment.
