Role Overview: As a Metadata Manager in the Data Management team at Crisil, you will be responsible for driving metadata management and data catalog implementation. Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining a data catalog that provides a unified view of the organization's data assets. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of the data catalog. Your success will be measured by the continuous growth in catalog content, improvement in features and services, and adoption by Crisil data users. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement a data catalog to meet the organization's data management and analytics needs. - Manage the inventory of data assets, including data sources, data sets, and data elements. - Oversee the creation, maintenance, and governance of metadata, such as data descriptions, data definitions, and data lineage. - Facilitate the adoption of the data catalog through training sessions and user guides for stakeholders. - Collaborate with data governance teams to align cataloging and metadata management practices with data governance frameworks. - Manage data access and security controls to ensure authorized access to data assets. - Develop reports and analytics to measure data catalog usage, data quality, and data asset performance. - Identify opportunities for process improvements in data cataloging and implement necessary changes. Qualifications Required: - Deep curiosity and passion for data. - Ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders. - In-depth understanding of data cataloging and metadata management. - Strong technical proficiency in data cataloging tools, database technologies, SQL, and data modeling. - Excellent communication skills to explain complex data concepts in simple terms. - Experience in training team members on data catalog and metadata management practices. - Proactive approach to identifying and resolving data management challenges.
