Job summary: The Sales Application Engineer is responsible for understanding customer requirements, proposing suitable technical solutions. The role bridges the gap between customers and the engineering team by translating application needs into feasible, cost-effective, and commercially viable machine concepts. Key Responsibilities: 1. Pre-Sales & Technical Consultation Meet customers to understand application requirements, process flow, and pain points. Propose technically accurate solutions for automation and SPM requirements. Prepare application studies, concept layouts, cycle time calculations, and machine selection. 2. Concept Development Work closely with design, electrical, and process engineering teams to develop solution concepts. Create technical presentations. Evaluate risks, assumptions, and technical challenges. 3. Quotation & Costing Prepare detailed techno-commercial proposals. Estimate costing for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control elements of the machine. Coordinate internally to finalize pricing, margins, and delivery timelines. 4. Customer Communication & Sales Support Present concepts, proposals, and ROI benefits to customers. Address technical clarifications, customer queries, and specification deviations. Support negotiation and finalization of orders. Build long-term relationships with key accounts. 5. Project Handover & Coordination Provide complete technical documentation to project and design teams after order finalization. Support during design freeze, technical reviews, and customer visits. Assist during FAT/SAT when required. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of mechanical design, automation, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLC basics. Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, and process documents. Good communication and presentation skills. Costing and proposal preparation skills. Problem-solving mindset with practical shop-floor knowledge. Ability to work with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in SolidWorks/AutoCAD (concept drawings) is an added advantage. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field. 27 years of experience in SPM / Automation / Machine Tool / Industrial Equipment industry. Experience in solution design, costing, and sales engineering preferred. Work Environment: Office + field visits to customer plants (occasionally) Coordination with design, production, purchase, and service teams. Travel for customer meetings and technical discussions.
