What You'll Do

- Observing and learning clinical decision-making processes to anticipate provider needs and streamline workflows.

What You'll Do
In this Medical Coding Internship, you'll work alongside certified coders to review medical records, assign accurate codes, and learn the intricacies of billing compliance. This role emphasizes practical training in inpatient/outpatient coding, ideal for those pursuing certifications like CPC or CCS. Core responsibilities include:
- Reviewing patient charts, physician notes, and diagnostic reports to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for procedures, diagnoses, and services.
- Assisting with claim preparation, error identification, and submission processes using coding software (e.g., 3M Encoder or Quadax).
- Conducting practice audits on sample records to ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, and payer-specific rules.
- Shadowing senior coders during appeals and denials resolution to understand revenue cycle impacts.
- Participating in timed coding exercises and feedback sessions to improve speed and accuracy.
- Supporting administrative tasks like data entry and maintaining coding reference libraries.
