Engineering Manager/Director of Engineering - Backend Analytics Platform Location: Bangalore, India Department: Engineering About the Role We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering to lead our high-performing engineering team in Bangalore. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be responsible for managing product development of our enterprise B2B SaaS analytics platform, driving team performance, and ensuring successful delivery of scalable backend systems that handle high-concurrency workloads. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers across different seniority levels Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement Drive hiring initiatives and build a diverse, talented engineering team Resolve conflicts and remove blockers to maintain team velocity Technical Leadership Provide technical direction and architectural guidance for high-concurrency analytics systems Review critical technical decisions and ensure scalable, maintainable code practices Step in hands-on when needed to solve complex technical challenges Champion engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, and documentation Stay current with backend technologies and industry trends in analytics platforms Product Development & Delivery Partner with Product Management to translate requirements into technical roadmaps Drive agile development processes and ensure on-time, high-quality deliveries Implement and optimize development workflows to improve team velocity Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes Cross-functional Collaboration Communicate technical concepts and project status to senior leadership Participate in strategic planning and technical decision-making Collaborate with customers and partners on shared infrastructure and APIs Required Qualifications Experience & Background 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend development skills 3+ years of engineering management experience leading teams Proven track record in enterprise B2B SaaS product companies Successfully delivered high-scale analytics or data-intensive products to enterprise customers Experience with high-concurrency, distributed systems and performance optimization Technical Expertise Deep expertise in backend technologies : Java, Python, microservices architecture Strong understanding of databases : SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing, and analytics databases (ClickHouse experience preferred) Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) Knowledge of streaming data processing with Apache Flink and Kafka Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools Leadership & Soft Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities Experience with agile methodologies Ability to balance technical depth with people management responsibilities Track record of improving team productivity and engineering culture Preferred Qualifications Engineering degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field) Experience in fast-growing SaaS startups or scale-ups Background in analytics, BI, or data platform companies Experience with ML/AI workloads and data science collaboration Previous experience managing hybrid in-office and geographically distributed teams What We Offer Competitive salary and equity package Comprehensive health and wellness benefits Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and talented team Career growth path in a rapidly scaling organization About Our Tech Stack Our platform processes millions of events daily and serves enterprise customers with sub-second query responses.
