Position: OT In-Charge Hospital: Mayom Hospital, Gurgaon (125 Bedded Multi-Specialty Hospital) Reporting To: Senior Operations Manager / Hospital Administrator / Medical Superintendent Role Objective To oversee and manage the smooth functioning of all Operation Theatres (OTs), Endoscopy Suite, Labour Room, and Emergency OT services. The OT In-Charge will ensure availability of medicines, consumables, surgical instruments, and equipment while maintaining NABH standards, patient safety, and efficient coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing, and CSSD teams. Key Responsibilities 1. OT Management & Coordination Supervise day-to-day functioning of all OTs (General OT, Ortho OT, Endoscopy OT, Labour Room, and Emergency OT). Prepare OT schedules and coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff. Ensure timely arrangement of instruments, implants, and consumables required for planned and emergency surgeries. Coordinate with ICU, ER, and labour room for emergency cases (e.g., C-sections, polytrauma, head injuries). 2. Surgical Assistance Assist surgeons and anesthetists during major and minor surgeries: General & GI Surgeries Orthopedic Surgeries & Joint Replacements ENT Surgeries (microscopic & endoscopic) Ophthalmic (Cataract, IOL) Surgeries Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeries Emergency & Trauma Surgeries Provide assistance in bedside procedures (e.g., bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, line insertions) as required. 3. Equipment & Instrumentation Management Maintain and operate advanced OT equipment: Laparoscopic Tower Navigation Systems Microdebrider Operating Microscope Anaesthesia Workstations Ensure preventive maintenance, calibration, and readiness of all OT equipment. Liaise with biomedical engineering for breakdown or servicing. 4. Inventory & Pharmacy Coordination Maintain accurate records of OT medicines, implants, disposables, and surgical consumables. Raise indents to Pharmacy and General Store for timely replenishment. Track medicine and consumable usage per case for cost efficiency. Maintain stock registers for narcotic and high-value drugs as per legal and NABH requirements. 5. CSSD & Sterilization Oversight Supervise Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) activities. Ensure correct sterilization cycles (Autoclave, ETO, Plasma Sterilization). Verify sterilization indicators and documentation as per NABH standards. Maintain zero tolerance for breaches in sterile protocols. 6. Documentation & Compliance Maintain all OT registers and case records: OT Utilization Register Anaesthesia Records Medication & Narcotic Drug Register Implant & IOL Register Emergency OT Register Ensure compliance with NABH/ JCI standards for patient safety, consent, and documentation. Ensure surgical safety checklist (WHO/NABH) compliance for all cases. 7. Emergency Management Arrange immediate OT readiness for: Emergency C-sections & complicated deliveries Polytrauma and RTA (Road Traffic Accident) cases Neuro/Head Injury Surgeries Acute Orthopaedic & General Surgery emergencies Mobilize anesthetists, pediatricians, and surgeons from local/on-call pool during emergencies. 8. Staff Supervision & Training Supervise OT nursing staff, technicians, and support staff. Prepare OT duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing. Conduct regular training on: Infection Control & Aseptic Practices OT Safety Protocols Equipment Handling & Maintenance Evaluate staff performance and recommend recognition/disciplinary actions. Qualifications & Skills Education: B.Sc. Nursing / Diploma in OT Technology / GNM with specialized OT experience. Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in OT services, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
