Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Administrator with strong expertise in Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps to manage, secure, optimize, and scale our enterprise Snowflake data platform.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Snowflake administration, AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. The role involves managing Snowflake environments, implementing platform security and governance, optimizing infrastructure costs, ensuring high availability, and automating deployment processes using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Snowflake Administration & Platform Management
- Manage and administer Snowflake environments, including user management, roles, privileges, RBAC, warehouses, databases, schemas, and resource monitors.
- Implement and maintain Snowflake security policies, access controls, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Monitor Snowflake performance, warehouse utilization, query execution, and resource consumption.
- Optimize Snowflake compute and storage costs through warehouse sizing, auto-suspend, auto-resume, and resource monitoring.
- Manage data retention policies, Time Travel, Fail-safe, replication, and disaster recovery configurations.
- Perform Snowflake account configuration, environment management, upgrades, and operational maintenance.
2. Cloud Infrastructure & Infrastructure as Code
- Design, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services and Terraform.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for consistent and automated infrastructure provisioning.
- Manage AWS services such as S3, IAM, EC2, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch, and related networking components.
- Establish secure connectivity between Snowflake, AWS, and other enterprise data platforms.
- Manage infrastructure scalability, availability, backup strategies, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure infrastructure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards.
3. DevOps & CI/CD Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Manage GitHub Enterprise repositories, branching strategies, access controls, and deployment workflows.
- Automate the deployment of Snowflake database objects, schemas, roles, permissions, and infrastructure configurations.
- Implement automated deployment and release management processes across development, QA, and production environments.
- Integrate Terraform workflows into CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Implement version control, code reviews, release approvals, and rollback mechanisms.
4. Monitoring, Security & Governance
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for Snowflake and cloud infrastructure.
- Monitor platform availability, performance, resource utilization, and operational health.
- Perform security assessments, vulnerability remediation, patch management, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Establish and maintain operational SLAs, SLOs, incident management, and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Support compliance audits, security reviews, and periodic access reviews.
- Maintain operational documentation, infrastructure configurations, and compliance reports.
5. Data Platform Migration & Integration
- Support Snowflake-to-Databricks migration initiatives from an infrastructure and platform administration perspective.
- Enable secure connectivity, environment provisioning, and deployment automation across Snowflake and Databricks.
- Implement Databricks infrastructure configurations, deployment workflows, and governance practices.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless platform integration.
Required Technical Skills
- Snowflake Administration: Snowflake account administration, RBAC, warehouses, resource monitors, query performance, security, Time Travel, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Strong experience with AWS services, IAM, S3, EC2, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, and networking.
- Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform, infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and automation.
- DevOps & CI/CD: GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, version control, release management, and deployment automation.
- Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and SQL.
- Monitoring & Observability: CloudWatch, platform monitoring, alerting, logging, incident management, and RCA.
- Data Platforms: Working knowledge of Databricks, dbt, and data pipeline orchestration.
- Security & Governance: IAM, RBAC, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance management.
