As a senior-level Controls & Automation Manager in the welding automation domain, you will be responsible for leading the Body-in-White (BIW) welding automation function. Your role will involve overseeing automation projects for welding fixtures, including robot integration, PLC design, pneumatics, safety systems, and shop-floor-level utilities. Strategic leadership and cross-functional coordination across design, manufacturing, and execution teams will be essential for this position. - Lead the execution of control and automation systems for BIW welding fixture projects. - Oversee the project lifecycle from concept development through commissioning. - Ensure the automation architecture aligns with the latest automotive design and safety standards. - Provide hands-on leadership in design and development of PLC hardware & software, pneumatic circuits, robot integration, and manufacturing control systems. - Develop and review control circuit diagrams, I/O lists, functional logic, and safety interlocks. - Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for integrated execution. - Stay updated with emerging trends in factory automation, robotics, and digital controls. - Identify and integrate new automation solutions to improve plant performance and customer satisfaction. - Recommend upgrades to tools, platforms, or software in the control engineering domain. - Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechatronics Engineering. - 15+ years of hands-on experience in control systems for BIW welding automation. - Deep proficiency in PLCs (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Delta, etc.), pneumatics, robot integration, safety systems. - Understanding of shop-floor utility systems, including SCADA, HMI, and data acquisition tools. - Proven ability to lead automation projects and supervise engineering teams. - Strong analytical, coordination, documentation, and people management skills. - Prior experience with OEMs or Tier 1 automotive suppliers is a strong advantage.
