Mainframe MQ Infrastructure Engineer

As a Mainframe MQ Infrastructure Engineer at Barclays in the Customer Digital and Data Business Area, your role will involve building and maintaining infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems. This includes utilizing hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms to ensure that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. To be successful in this role, you should have experience in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of MQ on z/OS, as well as queue management setup and maintenance. You should also possess skills in problem diagnosis of channel errors, message delays, and dead-letter queues, along with proficiency in z/OS skills such as JCL, TWS, REXX, and RACF. Additionally, experience with monitoring tools like Omegamon and Elastic, performance evaluation using SMF/MQ statistic data, and understanding of MQ bridges such as MQ to Kafka would be highly valued. Your key responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and maintaining high-quality infrastructure solutions, monitoring IT infrastructure performance, implementing automated tasks and processes, ensuring security measures to protect against cyber-attacks, collaborating cross-functionally with product managers and engineers, staying informed of industry technology trends, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and growth within the organization.
