Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Sheet Metal & Sales Support Location: Mira Road Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Required: 1 - 2 Years (Preferred) About the Role: We are looking for a proactive and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, MS, SS, PLATES & PIPE using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will also play a supporting role in sales operations, including client follow-ups, coordination with fabricators, and learning cross-functional responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Design & Engineering: • Create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. • Develop spare parts drawings, exploded views, and Bill of Materials (BOM). • Prepare nesting layouts and generate cutting files (e.g., DXF) for laser/plasma cutting. • Send cutting files and instructions to fabricators and ensure proper understanding. • Ensure all designs meet practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable standards. Sales & Operations Support: • Assist the sales team with technical documentation, design inputs, and layout suggestions. • Understand customer requirements and support proposal making. • Provide technical coordination during pre- and post-sales activities. • Participate in costing, estimation, and design customization as per sales requirements. Fabrication Coordination & Site Visits: • Follow up with fabricators to ensure timely and accurate execution of jobs. • Conduct on-site visits for inspection and verification of quality and dimensions. • Update drawings or cutting plans as needed based on site conditions or feedback. Required Technical Skills (Hard Skills): • Proficient in SolidWorks (especially sheet metal module). • Strong skills in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing. • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, bending, welding, and finishing. • Working knowledge of nesting software/tools (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest) is desirable. • Ability to prepare and dispatch cutting files to CNC machine operators/fabricators. • Understanding of engineering tolerances, fits, and GD&T is a plus. Required Soft Skills (Behavioural): • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative beyond core responsibilities. • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and commitment. • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working with minimal supervision. • Comfortable with site visits, inspections, and coordination with third parties. Qualification: • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. • Prior experience in sheet metal fabrication design (preferred: 1+ years). • Fresh candidates with strong design aptitude and willingness to travel may also apply.
