Experience Required A minimum of five years’ design experience in custom automation & testing machine. A working knowledge of NX CAD, Solid works, AutoCAD and Microsoft office. Responsibilities: Ø Design mechanical components and assemblies for automation equipment, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability. Ø Utilize Siemens NX software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of automation systems and components. Ø Prepare Designs based on concepts prepared by Design Manager for Part handling automation and Hydraulic machining centre fixtures for Automotive components. Ø Prepare and present Design Reviews both internal and customer. Ø Prepare detail designs for manufacturing. Ø Support the assembly team in the shop as required. Specific RESPONSIBILITIES: Ø Design and detail parts and assemblies related to test and assembly automation equipment. Ø Communicate time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to the Lead Designer. Ø Have strong Mechanical engineering fundamentals for design & assembly of automation components like conveyors, robotics etc Ø Should have knowledge and experience with selection of OEM parts such as Ball screw, LM guideways, servo, stepper motors and drives. Ø Review electrical requirements with electrical designers. Ø Attend and present design reviews. Preparation of DAP drawings Ø Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to designs. Ø Analyse engineering drawings, and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products. Ø Draft working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, subassemblies or product, using NX CAD, AutoCAD or Solid works. Ø Determine tools, fixtures and equipment to be used in fabrication and assembly of components and complete assemblies. Ø Provide assistance during the manufacture of parts and floor assembly, debug and integration. Ø Manage project documentation, including quotes, cost sheets, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects you are leading. Ø Formalize and update drawing documentation. Ø Check drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc. Ø Connect with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff. Ø Connect with vendors for technical information and specifications. Ø Adhere to the ISO Operating Procedures for the Mechanical and Fabrication Design. Ø Ensure that all business activities are performed with ISO standards. Ø Must understand the 5S principles and their importance. Ø Maintain project schedule, making use of earned value system to track progress. Ø Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures. Ø Should have strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills. Ø Ability to work in fast paced / team environment. Ø Should be ready to travel as expected.
