Machine Learning Scientist II

Role Overview: You have the opportunity to join Expedia Group's Machine Learning and Data Science team to work on developing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms that power various aspects of highly complex travel searches, recommendations, and advertising. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for implementing and validating machine learning models and collaborating with senior scientists, engineers, and product managers to contribute to solutions. Key Responsibilities: - Implement, test, and validate machine learning models, taking features from concept to production. - Design and analyze rigorous A/B tests to validate models and quantify their business impact. Proactively monitor model performance and iterate to improve it. - Partner effectively with senior scientists, engineers, and product managers to understand requirements and contribute to solutions. - Continuously learn and develop a deeper understanding of the data, infrastructure, and problem space. Qualifications Required: - PhD or MS in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or Physics. - 1-3 years of hands-on industry experience building and deploying machine learning models to solve real-world problems. - Strong foundation in machine learning theory and core statistical concepts. - Proficiency in Python and its data science ecosystem, experience with SQL for data querying. - Strong collaborator with the ability to effectively partner with teammates to implement solutions. - Highly desired experience in online advertising or e-commerce and building models using GenAI/LLM technologies.
