As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Parkwest's Oncology-Gynecological-Surgical unit, you will play a crucial role in providing nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Your responsibilities will include: - Initiating admission database and history, and collaborating with the RN to implement patient and family teaching and care needs. - Practicing in compliance with all regulatory standards and adhering to all hospital policies and procedures. - Performing and prioritizing nursing care tasks as per the nursing plan of care and medical orders under the direction of an RN. - Observing and reporting nursing interventions and patient responses in a timely, concise, and legible manner. - Recognizing, responding to, and reporting changes in patient conditions to the RN Team Leader. - Participating in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences. - Demonstrating principles of infection control and ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and personnel in collaboration with the infection control nurse. - Assisting in orienting new employees or students to unit routines. - Administering IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids as per established hospital protocol. - Performing specific advanced patient care treatments as approved per hospital protocol. - Following policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required education assignments annually, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. - Performing any other duties as assigned. Parkwest's Oncology-Gynecological-Surgical unit consists of 36 beds and specializes in oncological care, post-surgical care, and chemotherapy administration training for nurses. The unit is staffed with a skilled interdisciplinary team, including RNs, LPNs, Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators, who work together to provide exceptional patient care in a high-energy, team-oriented, and customer satisfaction-focused environment.
