Description
As a Linux Server & Hosting Administrator at Elephant in the Boardroom, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day hosting and server operations on cPanel/WHM-based Linux servers supporting applications built on Drupal, PHP, MERN, and Next.js. Your role will focus on operational stability, monitoring, and support, with clear escalation paths for complex issues. Exposure to international stakeholders and teams is advantageous due to coordination across time zones and clear technical communication. Key Responsibilities: - Handle daily hosting management tasks using cPanel & WHM - Create and manage hosting accounts, domains, DNS, SSL, and email services - Monitor server health (CPU, memory, disk, uptime) and respond to alerts - Restart and manage services (Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM, MySQL) as per SOPs - Support Drupal and PHP applications with server-side configurations - Assist with deployment and support of Node.js / Next.js applications using predefined runbooks - Manage backups, verify backup integrity, and perform restorations - Maintain basic server security practices (firewall rules, access controls, updates) - Coordinate with internal developers and hosting providers to resolve issues - Communicate clearly with international stakeholders on server status and incidents - Escalate performance, security, or downtime issues promptly and responsibly Required Skills & Experience: - 1-3 years of experience in Linux server administration or hosting support - Hands-on experience with cPanel & WHM - Basic understanding of Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM - Familiarity with PHP and Drupal hosting environments - Basic exposure to Node.js applications - Understanding of server monitoring, logs, incident handling, and basic CI/CD concepts Added Advantage: - Experience working with international clients or stakeholders - Clear written and verbal communication skills - Prior experience in managed hosting or MSP environments What We Value: - Discipline over experimentation on production systems - Early escalation and transparency - Reliability and ownership of assigned operational tasks - Calm and structured response during incidents Please note that the company's website is https://www.elephantintheboardroom.com.au and the job type is full-time, permanent.
