Role & responsibilities

Linux Administrator is a technical professional who specializes in maintaining and developing Linux infrastructure technology. In order to attract Linux Administrator that best matches your needs, it is very important to write a clear and precise Linux Administrator job description.

Required Skills:

Responsible for Linux server installation and configuration on Physical and Virtual machines.
Installation/Kernel updating or client patching on Red hat servers as client required configuration of Storage LUN.
Server hardening, checking I/O and systems performance.
Proactively monitoring the Servers health and taking preventive or corrective action as required.
Responsible for, NFS, SAMBA, NIS, SSH, FTP, NIS, Apache, Tomcat, Send mail, DNS servers Installation and configuration.
Apache and Tomcat server installation.
Server Migration from physical to Virtual (P2V).NIC bonding using bonding kernel module.
Managing internal DNS server record addition and deletion.
Sound experience in Linux LVM, VxVM and Solaris SVM.
Creating sparse root/ whole root zones.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Master of Computer Application from reputed University.
6 - 10 Years of experience on Linux.
Responsiveness and sense of responsibility/accountability in all kinds of professional scenarios.
Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment and a STRONG desire to learn.
