Job Summary : A Road Tester is responsible for conducting road tests of customer vehicles or newly serviced vehicles to verify performance, identify issues, and ensure repair quality. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to detect mechanical, electrical, or drivability problems during test drives. Key Responsibilities : Pre-Delivery Test Drive : Conduct road tests of vehicles after repairs or servicing to ensure fault resolution. Verify that all complaints raised by the customer have been addressed. Evaluate drivability, braking, suspension, engine response, noise, and other performance aspects. Complaint Verification : Assist service advisors or technicians in validating customer complaints during vehicle check-in. Provide detailed feedback on drivability or noise-related concerns. Safety Checks : Ensure that all vehicles are roadworthy and safe before test drives. Use seat belts and follow safety guidelines while testing on public roads. Feedback & Reporting : Communicate any issues found during test drives to the floor supervisor or technician for corrective action. Sign off test drive reports/checklists after completion. Assist in preparing final delivery clearance if required. Documentation & Recordkeeping : Fill in road test sheets or DMS entries with test results and observations. Maintain a logbook of all test drives for internal quality tracking. Skills & Qualifications : Minimum 10th pass; ITI or technical background preferred. 3–5 years of experience as a vehicle driver or in road testing. Valid driving license (LMV mandatory; commercial or heavy vehicle license preferred for relevant roles). Strong understanding of vehicle behavior, systems, and faults.
