Lead Software Engineer - Backend (Java)

As a Lead Software Engineer at Birdeye Inc., you will be responsible for leading a team of backend engineers to design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring framework. You will have the opportunity to architect and implement scalable solutions for real-time data processing using tools like Kafka and NiFi. Additionally, you will manage and optimize large-scale data storage and retrieval with MySQL and NoSQL databases. Providing technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to team members, as well as promoting best practices in software development, are essential aspects of this role. Key Responsibilities: - Lead a team of backend engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring framework. - Architect and implement scalable solutions for real-time data processing using tools like Kafka and NiFi. - Manage and optimize large-scale data storage and retrieval with MySQL and NoSQL databases. - Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable software solutions. - Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to team members, and promote best practices in software development. - Drive initiatives for improving performance, reliability, and security of backend systems. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Minimum 6 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on backend development. - Expertise in Java and the Spring framework, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing complex systems. - Proven experience with Kafka and NiFi for event-driven architectures and large-scale data processing. - Deep understanding of MySQL and NoSQL databases, with experience in optimizing and managing large datasets. - Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a team, drive technical discussions, and mentor engineers.
