Job
Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Design and Development: Design and develop mechanical components and subsystems for UAVs / UGVs / USVs, robotics, and electromechanical assemblies using CATIA V6 M3S Role, focusing on functional performance, weight optimization, ruggedization, and integration with electronics and structural elements.
2.Plastic design for Injection Moulding: Design plastic parts with a deep understanding of injection moulding best practices considering draft angles, ribs, snap-fits, bosses, undercuts, gating, sink marks, ejection, and DFM. Collaborate with tool makers and vendors to ensure production-readiness.
3.Design Validation & Analysis: Collaborate with structural and thermal analysis engineers to validate mechanical designs using FEA/CFD. Ensure components meet strength, vibration, and thermal performance requirements.
4.Team Leadership & Project Ownership: Lead a team of 4–5 engineers; allocate tasks, mentor team members, review their work, and guide them in design decisions. Maintain accountability for timelines and quality of deliverables.
5.Manufacturing & Vendor Interaction: Coordinate with vendors for prototyping and production. Provide engineering support during part/tool development and resolve DFM or tolerance issues proactively.
6.Documentation & Release Management: Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, SOPs, release forms, and QC checklists. Drive compliance with internal review and approval processes.
7.Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams for design intent, specifications, and technical concepts of the product.
Skills Required
1.Expertise in 3D modelling and 2D detailing using CATIA V6 including advanced surface and solid modelling.
2.Deep knowledge of plastic injection moulding, including design guidelines, tooling considerations, and DFM for production.
3.Strong experience in leading engineering teams and managing multiple design workstreams. 4.Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and stack-up analysis.
5.Working knowledge of processes like CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, and additive manufacturing in addition to plastics.
6.Ability to lead, collaborate, and communicate effectively across disciplines.
