As Lead Mechanical Process Commissioning Engineer, you shall be responsible for:Cold and hot commissioning activities for Steam Turbine and generator & associated auxiliaries in a safe manner, according to the quality rules in force on the project and the project schedule.Responsible for the preparation and execution of the commissioning, trial run, acceptance testing and inspection/measurements within his/her scope of work as defined by Engineering.In depth knowledge of cold-commissioning and hot commissioning activities of ST-G systemsExperienced in testing and Calibration of Moog EHC for valve stroking and tuning.Analysis & providing technical solutions to process commissioning problems being encountered /identified by Thermal Power Utilities in consultation with Engineering.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Working as Technical Lead for Mech. Process commissioning related tasks in assigned Core service/retrofit outages of STG including dealing with all technical & safety matters related to outage execution, owning the customer relationship during outage duration, and driving customer issues resolution within outage schedule.
- Implement and ensure compliance as per GE Vernova standards, laws & regulations during outage execution.
- Perform all commissioning activities cold and hot related to Steam Turbine, Generator and auxiliaries in accordance to OEM engineering & safety guidelines and Quality procedure, with address to all statutory regulations and environmental protection measures in place.
- Knowledge of steam turbine systems and auxiliaries commissioning Lubricating oil, jacking oil, control oil, Steam admission valves, bearings, drain & vents systems, Bypass, gland steam, mechanical control and protection, shaft monitoring, etc.
- Reporting of deviations from the agreed goals and further initiating corrective measures with support from Service Engineering/retrofit engineering.
- Preparation & Performing Commissioning in a safe and timely manner as specified in the work instructions.
- Developing commissioning schedule for cold & hot commissioning, prepare commissioning Inspection & Test plans for outage, testing procedures, protocols, and reports of equipments for STG and associated auxiliaries as needed.
- Raising ER Case for remote engineering support in handling technical problems related to commissioning and its timely resolution to meet Unit commissioning deadline as per defined outage schedule.
- Ensuring the commissioning, operation, quality record and feedback documentation are issued & ensuring that technical deviations are reported with a corresponding non-conformance report (NCR) and that the same are followed up until their completion.
- Maintain logbooks to record commissioning daily work, operational events, rectification logs, punch list etc as specified in the work instructions.
- Manage the handling and inspection of the commissioning test equipment.
- Support and train other Commissioning Engineers assigned to him/her.
- Participate in site outage meetings organised by Site lead.
- Train the customer staff in operation and maintenance as per contractual obligations.
- Prepare Commissioning outage report, provide technical experience feedback_Lesson Learnt during Outage close-out in accordance with outage End to End Process
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical engineering/or equivalent stream from an accredited university or college, with 8+ years of relevant experience in Power / Energy industry for position of Lead Mechanical Process Commissioning engineer of Steam Turbine-Generator. 3-4 years of relevant experience as site manager shall be added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills while interacting with internal/external customers for outage execution.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical Skills:
- Should possess sound fundamentals and knowledge on Steam turbine technologies with operational & commissioning aspects of various fleets of Own technology as well as OOEMs.
- Rich exposure to Steam Turbine commissioning skills mainly on large Steam turbines of 100 MW and above.
- Sound exposure to Constructional features with a view to manage & lead commissioning planning & manage successful commissioning support.
- Analytical skills to organize troubleshooting of various operational problems of Steam Turbine in support with Remote Outage support Team / ST Product services team and subsequently advise on short term as well as long term remedial actions.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS word/MS excel/MS Power Point) etc
- Sound understanding of time/cost control for assigned outage commissioning related site activities of Steam Turbine Overhaul /upgrade/retrofit installation and successful execution within assigned time & cost estimates.
- Knowledge on scheduling packages such as MS Project / Primavera shall be preferred.
- Exposure to various outage execution process like outage execution planning /outage execution including site mobilization / execution of job along-with designated vendors/ outage closure/ Outage feedback & Lesson Learnt/ ST Business development support etc. shall be preferred.
