The role is part of GE Vernova grid system Integration for Service Projects of Refurbishment, Extension, System Upgrade for AC substations (GIS & AIS) projects based at Noida. It is to support GSI Service by carrying out design and engineering for the tender & projects.Within this cross-centers and multicultural organization, the lead engineer is responsible to play a crucial role in designing, implementing protection relay & control systems for HV substations & other technical activities that integrate all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraints. He/she reports directly to service engineering leader.
Roles and Responsibilities
- General responsibilities:
- Execute & analyse, design, test, or integrate required to define and support systems that meet business standards and project requirements.
- Full ownership to independently support stakeholders / customers in form of project management of tender / project engineering, to be done.
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers for necessary approvals.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Specific Role Requirements:
- Carry out secondary engineering related to AC substation AIS/GIS service projects.
- Reverse engineering related to brown filled AC substations projects.
- Engineering & design has to be carried out according to international standards (as applicable in the country of destination of the project), apart from following Indian standards for local projects.
- Design/review the Substation automation system for implementation of Station Bus & Process Bus
- Development and optimization in control & protection scheme
- Mapping of existing secondary system for implementation of new system.
- Preparation of LV & Control, Protection system along with latest guidelines
- CT, VT Sizing calculation along with DC system
- LT control & Power cable philosophy and cable scheduling
- Understanding and worked with different IEDs, Numerical protection relays and BCUs.
- Knowledge and worked on Telecom Network
- Knowledge in AIS/GIS Equipment along with Digital Control & monitoring system.
- RFQ / Technical Validation / Evaluation of vendor Drawings & Documents
- Design of Substation auxiliary systems and interfacing with the DCS/SCADA.
- Co-ordination and integration with other stake holders
- Flexible and quick to learn global developments in technologies to adopt.
- Knowhow of IS / IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, AC substation industry engineering practices.
- HVDC/FACTS integrated project applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, from an accredited college or university with a minimum 6-8 years of experience on secondary /LV engineering on substation protection relay within Substations & EBOP. Strong understanding of Power System Engineering
