Duties and Responsibilities of a Store Keeper 1. Inventory Management Receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from the store. Maintain accurate stock records and perform periodic stock counts. Keep the inventory updated in registers or inventory management software. Arrange goods systematically for easy identification and access. 2. Receiving and Inspecting Goods Check incoming materials for quality, quantity, and compliance with purchase orders. Inspect for damages or discrepancies and report any issues immediately. Ensure proper documentation for received goods (e.g., delivery notes, invoices). 3. Storage and Organization Store materials safely to prevent damage, deterioration, or theft. Label all items clearly and maintain an organized storage layout. Follow proper stacking, shelving, and safety guidelines. 4. Issuing Materials Issue goods only against authorized requisitions. Record details of materials issued, including date, quantity, and recipient. Ensure that issuance is in line with company policies. 5. Documentation and Record Keeping Maintain updated stock ledgers, bin cards, or digital inventory records. Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly stock reports. Handle paperwork for inward and outward goods, including gate passes. 6. Coordination Coordinate with purchasing and procurement teams for replenishment. Liaise with departments to forecast material needs. Communicate shortages or surpluses to management. 7. Safety and Compliance 8. Loss Prevention 9.
