Lab Technician

Job Summary:

The Computer Lab Technician is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and smooth operation of the computer laboratory. This role involves providing technical support, assisting faculty and students, and ensuring optimal functionality of lab systems and applications.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Oversee the security, organization and maintenance of the computer lab.
• Provide technical assistance for lab-related tasks and troubleshooting system issues.
• Ensuring the proper functioning of lab systems and application software.
• Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of lab computers, peripherals, and network connections.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the lab to provide a conducive learning environment.
• Conduct periodic preventive maintenance as per the guidelines from the Network Department.
• Ensure timely updates and software installations for seamless operations.
• Execute additional duties assigned by the Network Department, Head of Department (HOD), or Dean.

Qualifications:

• Education: Degree/Diploma/Certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior experience in an educational institution or organization is an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Hardware Knowledge: Understanding of computer components (CPU, RAM, motherboard, storage devices, peripherals).
• Software Proficiency: Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux), software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, educational tools), and software troubleshooting.
• Networking Basics: Knowledge of network topologies, protocols (TCP/IP), and basic network troubleshooting.
• Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide effective technical support.
