Job Title: Sr. MEP Designer & Techno-Commercial Engineer (For LID Company) Industry: Real Estate & Construction Location: Mumbai Experience: 12+ years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent Company profile : www.lidinfra.com Role Summary: The MEP Designer & Techno-Commercial professional plays a dual role that combines the technical aspects of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) design and coordination with the commercial responsibilities of costing, vendor evaluation, and project feasibility. This individual ensures that the MEP systems are effectively designed, economically viable, and in alignment with project timelines and budgets. Key Responsibilities MEP Design & Coordination: Design and develop MEP systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, electrical, and ELV systems as per project requirements. Prepare and review BOQ, specifications, and tender documents for MEP packages. Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders for design integration. Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and sustainability guidelines. Conduct load calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling. Perform value engineering and cost optimization without compromising functionality. Attend design review meetings, coordinate with consultants and contractors. Support procurement and tendering process with technical inputs. Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and mock-ups. Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to design and resolve technical issues. Techno-Commercial Management: Prepare and review technical specifications, RFQs, and tender documents. Evaluate vendor proposals for MEP systems from a technical and commercial perspective. Collaborate with procurement teams for negotiation and finalization of contracts. Provide cost optimization strategies without compromising design intent and performance. Conduct technical feasibility and value engineering studies. Track MEP-related budgets, timelines, and risk factors across multiple projects. Skills & Competencies Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other relevant design tools. Understanding of BIM (Building Information Modeling). Familiarity with MEP software like HAP, Dialux, ETAP, and Pipe Flow Expert. Strong knowledge of construction materials and MEP installation practices. Ensure compliance with local codes, NBC, ECBC, and if possible international standards like ASHRAE, NFPA, etc. Commercial & Management Skills: Strong analytical and cost estimation abilities. Knowledge of contracts, tendering, and procurement procedures. Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills. Budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis capabilities. The ideal candidate will have at least 18 - 20 years of proven experience in the construction or infrastructure sector, leading project planning and cost control functions across large-scale projects. The role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical knowledge, exceptional leadership abilities, and a results-driven mindset. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Planning & Scheduling Lead the development of detailed project plans, schedules (using tools such as Primavera P6/MS Project), and construction methodologies. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to align on timelines and deliverables. Perform risk analysis, resource planning, and schedule optimization. 2. Budgeting & Cost Estimation Develop and manage project budgets from concept to completion. Prepare cost estimates and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) based on drawings, specifications, and market trends. Qualifications & Skills: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree or PMP certification is a plus). Experience: Minimum 18 years in construction project planning, budgeting, and cost control—preferably in infrastructure, industrial, commercial, or real estate sectors. Expertise in Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, ERP systems, and costing software. Strong understanding of project management frameworks, construction processes. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure and deliver in complex project environments.
