Role & responsibilities 1. Mechanical Testing Operations: Conduct and supervise tensile, impact (Charpy/Izod), hardness (Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers), bend, and fatigue tests according to ASTM, ISO, or equivalent standards. Perform all the requried testing when applicable. Plan Preparation of test specimens in accordance with testing specifications. Ensure accurate setup, calibration, and operation of universal testing machines and related instruments. 2. Quality Control & Data Management: Record, analyze, and validate test results; ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation requirements. Review and approve test reports before submission to clients or internal departments. Maintain accurate equipment calibration logs and participate in proficiency testing programs. Identify non-conformances, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions. 3. Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Supervise regular maintenance, servicing, and calibration of mechanical testing equipment. Troubleshoot minor technical issues and liaise with vendors for major repairs or software updates. 4. Safety & Compliance: Enforce laboratory safety rules and ensure compliance with OHS and environmental regulations . Conduct risk assessments and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for consumables. 5. Leadership & Training: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and trainees . Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in internal audits. Assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Preferred candidate profile Minimum 58 years of hands-on experience in a mechanical testing laboratory , preferably in a metallurgical or materials testing
