Job PurposeTo efficiently manage, record, and safeguard all construction materials, tools, and equipment on-site, ensuring smooth operations by maintaining accurate inventory and proper issue/receipt processes. Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Receipt & Verification Receive construction materials, tools, and consumables delivered to site. Check quantity, quality, and specifications against purchase orders and delivery challans. Report discrepancies or damages immediately to the Site Engineer/Project Manager. Inventory Management Maintain proper records of incoming and outgoing materials. Update stock register and/or ERP system daily. Ensure minimum stock levels for critical materials are maintained. Issuance of Materials Issue materials to engineers, supervisors, and workers as per approved requisitions. Maintain proper documentation (issue slips/material requisition notes). Storage & Preservation Store materials systematically for easy identification, retrieval, and safety. Ensure proper stacking to avoid damage, theft, or wastage. Maintain separate storage for cement, steel, consumables, tools, and safety equipment. Stock Control & Reporting Conduct periodic stock verification and physical audits. Reconcile physical stock with records. Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly stock reports to Project Manager/Head Office. Safety & Compliance Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials (paints, chemicals, etc.). Follow safety procedures during loading/unloading. Keep store area clean, organized, and compliant with company/site policies. Coordination Liaise with purchase department for timely replenishment. Coordinate with site engineers for material planning. Report shortages or delays in supply proactively. Skills & CompetenciesKnowledge of construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, shuttering, fittings, etc.). Familiarity with store management systems / ERP. Strong record-keeping and documentation skills. Basic computer skills (MS Excel, inventory software). Attention to detail and organizational ability. Honesty, integrity, and accountability.
