Steam Processing Expertise : Operating and maintaining steam equipment used in the extraction and processing of herbal materials. This includes boilers, steam generators, and related machinery. Quality Control : Monitoring steam processes to ensure they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. This involves maintaining optimal conditions for extraction without compromising the integrity of herbal compounds. Safety Protocols : Adhering to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents related to high-pressure steam operations. This includes regular inspections, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety guidelines. Technical Troubleshooting : Identifying and resolving technical issues that may arise during steam processing. This requires a good understanding of mechanical systems and problem-solving skills. Team Collaboration : Working closely with production teams to coordinate steam operations with overall manufacturing schedules. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial for smooth operations. Qualification Required for a Steam Operator in the Herbal Industry:Minimum Educational Qualification: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) Certificate – in Fitter , Boiler Attendant , Mechanical , or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning . OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering . Licenses/Certifications: Boiler Attendant Certificate (1st Class or 2nd Class) – mandatory as per Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) for operating boilers. 2nd Class Boiler Attendant for small boilers 1st Class Boiler Attendant for high-capacity boilers Experience: 1 to 3 years experience in steam plant/boiler operations, preferably in: Herbal / Ayurvedic / Pharmaceutical / Food Processing industries. Additional Skills: Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) . Basic knowledge of herbal extraction processes (helpful but not mandatory). Understanding of SOPs , safety norms, and preventive maintenance .
