Java Fullstack Developer

Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of approximately 219,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Full Stack Developer with 2 to 4 years of experience in building scalable, robust web applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Angular. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end features, crafting responsive user interfaces, and implementing high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, UI/UX designers, and QA engineers in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Frontend Development (Angular)

• Design and implement responsive, accessible, and high-performance UI components using Angular (v12+), TypeScript, HTML5, and SCSS/CSS3.
• Manage state and asynchronous data streams utilizing RxJS and modern Angular reactive patterns (and/or NgRx).
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize frontend loading performance and rendering efficiency.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes and user stories into clean, functional code.

2. Backend & API Development (Java / Spring Boot)

• Develop, test, and deploy resilient microservices and RESTful APIs using Java (Java 11/17+) and the Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security).
• Implement efficient business logic, data validation, exception handling, and secure authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT).
• Optimize backend processing for low latency, scalability, and high availability.

3. Database & Data Integration

• Write and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and schema migrations using relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL).
• Utilize ORM frameworks like Hibernate / Spring Data JPA effectively, preventing performance pitfalls (e.g., N+1 query issues).
• Work with caching layers (such as Redis) and message brokers (such as Kafka or RabbitMQ) where applicable.

4. Quality Assurance, DevOps & CI/CD

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to industry best practices and SOLID principles.
• Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Mockito for backend, and Jasmine/Karma or Jest for frontend to maintain high test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipeline automation (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), and containerized deployments using Docker.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Competencies

• Core Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on professional software development experience in full-stack web applications.
• Backend:
  • Strong proficiency in Java 11 / Java 17 and core Java concepts
  • Solid experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA/Hibernate.
  • Proven track record of designing and consuming RESTful APIs and JSON data structures.
• Frontend:
  • Has experience in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/SCSS.
  • Practical understanding of RxJS, Angular Services, Dependency Injection, Routing, and Reactive Forms.
• Databases:
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle DB).
• Testing & Tooling:
  • Experience writing automated unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine/Karma).
  • Proficient with version control systems (Git) and build tools (Maven or Gradle, npm/yarn).
