Roles and responsibilities Planning and design: Conducting site investigations and surveys to gather data. Designing road geometry, pavement structures, and drainage systems using specialized software. Analyzing traffic patterns, growth, and safety data to optimize road capacity and design features. Preparing detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Construction: Supervising construction activities and inspecting work to ensure quality control. Ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and material quality, particularly the precise mixing of bitumen, aggregates, and additives. Managing project budgets and preparing tender and contract documents. Maintenance and operations: Planning and scheduling maintenance projects for existing road networks. Investigating pavement failures and implementing solutions for maintenance and repair. Coordinating with other departments and local governments on maintenance and traffic control issues. Project management and coordination: Managing projects from initial planning through to completion. Preparing project budgets and cost estimates. Collaborating with various stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and the public. Ensuring all projects comply with relevant regulations, codes, and contractual agreements.
